Community Garden

The Community Garden was created in 2017.  The garden contains 12 raised beds planted around Memorial Day weekend during our Garden Kick-off barbecue.  Plants include peppers and tomatoes and a variety of other vegetables.  Anyone is welcome to help plant, water, weed, tend to the garden, and enjoy its’ produce in the fall.  A garden harvest party is held toward the end of the summer.  See pictures.

Euchre Tournaments

Jerry and Carolyn Carasea organize and run a monthly Euchre tournament held the second Saturday of each month. Sign up for a fun night of Euchre and snacks. Buy in is $5.00. Contact Jerry or Carolyn at c.carasea@att.net

Tuesday Morning Sewing

The group is open to any women who are interested in sewing, quilting, knitting, or crocheting.  The group meets from approximately 9-11 on Tuesday mornings.  Each year they make a number of quilts for Lutheran World Relief.  This past year they donated 50 quilts plus a number of lap robes and dog beds to local charities.

Bunco Belles

This is a group of 12 women who meet on the second Tuesday of each month to promote fellowship by playing an easy, fast paced dice game.  There is a different hostess each month who provides snacks and prizes.  The prizes are purchased with a $5.00 per person fee from the previous month.  The hostess also selects a charity or cause that members donate to. Contact Patty Duffey at drduffey@aol.com for more information.

Awana

Awana stands for “Approved Workmen are Not Ashamed” (2 Timonthy 2:15).  Awana is a children’s ministry who’s mission is to “reach kids, equip leaders, and change the world for God.”  We will be starting two Awana clubs this year at St. Jacob.  A Cubbies program will serve kids preschool age (3) to five.  A Sparks program will serve kids kindergarden through second grade. Tentative dates include a registration night August 29 with the first meeting night September 12.  Meetings will begin with a light, kid-oriented supper from 5:30-6:00 and the meeting will be held from 6:00-7:30. Contact Amanda Kerr at spkerrski@hotmail.com or 330-309-4453 for more information. Or click here.

Choir: Voices of Praise

The choir, under leadership of organist Margaret Reichenbach, performs an anthem during the service every Sunday with special music performed by soloists throughout the year and especially during the summer months.  The choir meets every Wednesday night from September to May at 7:00 for practice. New musicians, vocal or instrumental, are always welcome. Contact Margaret for more information.

 Sunday School

We offer Sunday School classes for children, young adults, and adults.  For example, Lynn’s Lutherans class studies the Bible and Lutheran teachings. The Kitchen class discusses topical events with a Christian understanding.  Sunday School is held every Sunday after worship at 10:15.  We currently do not have other classes taking place, but we are always willing and open to new ideas and leaders.

Women of the Way Bible Study

Women of the Way is a women’s Bible study group that strives to grow in wisdom and faith and to draw closer to God through the discussion and study of His Word in a supportive environment. The group meets typically on Saturday mornings at 9:00.

 Ezra Men’s Group

This Men’s group meets on Saturday once a month at T. Meldrums for breakfast and discussion.
